WASHTENAW COUNTY (WWJ) - A 50-year-old woman from Detroit was killed in a crash with a semi Wednesday morning.
Michigan State Police reported that Jeannine Kahzarian died after her car was struck by a semi-trailer truck on westbound I-94 in Ypsilanti Township at around 6:30 a.m.
Troopers closed one lane while they analyzed the scene of the crash at Grove Street and westbound I-94.
According to initial reports from MSP, the semi driver was cut off by a vehicle, which caused the truck driver to swerve into the emergency lane where another car was parked; the semi then crashed into that vehicle on the shoulder.
The driver of the parked car was pronounced dead on the scene.
It's unknown why the car was parked on the shoulder. A police investigation remains ongoing.
