'Serious offenses that will not be tolerated': 73-year-old man convicted on all charges after threatening to bomb Warren court, resisting arrest

MOUNT CLEMENS (WWJ) - A 73-year-old Warren man was found guilty of all charges this week after police said he contacted the 37th Warren District Court by phone and threatened to bomb back in 2022.

Lynn Morton of Warren of Warren was charged and convicted on two felony charges of making a bomb threat, a four year felony, and resisting a police officer, a two year felony, on Tuesday, Jan. 23rd in Macomb County Circuit Court.

Prosecutors said Morton called the court in Warren back on Sept. 15, 2022 and threatened to bomb the building. He was arrested on Oct. 18, 2022, but he resisted officers when taken to the Warren Police Department and wouldn't comply with orders from police.

"Threats to our judicial system and resistance to law enforcement are serious offenses that will not be tolerated. This guilty verdict sends a clear message that such behavior will be met with legal consequences, and our justice system will hold individuals accountable for their actions," said Macomb County Prosecutor Peter J. Lucido.

The 73-year-old is due back in court on Thursday, February 29 at 9:00 a.m. for sentencing.
