78-year-old Roseville man hit, killed by SUV while crossing Groesbeck in Clinton Township

CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) – A 78-year-old Roseville man has died after being hit by a car while crossing the street Wednesday morning.

It happened around 7 a.m. at the intersection of Groesbeck and 15 Mile Roads in Clinton Township.


A 51-year-old Mt. Clemens man was headed south on Groesbeck in a Lincoln Corsair when his SUV hit the Roseville man as he was crossing Groesbeck from east to west against the traffic light, according to police.

The driver immediately stopped at the scene and nearby citizens began rendering first aid and life-saving measures until police and EMS got to the scene.

The victim – whose name has not been released – was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver was uninjured.

Authorities do not believe drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.

Clinton Township police are continuing to investigate the crash. Officials are asking anyone who witnessed the incident or anyone who may know something about it to call the police department at (586) 493-7802 and ask to speak to Sgt. Vasilides or Det. Dittmer.
