(WWJ) -- A boat fire on Lake St. Clair that happened early this morning is under investigation.
The U.S. Coast Guard Sector Detroit tells WWJ they received a call around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday about the blaze on a 40-foot vessel with nine people aboard near Ford Cove.
A nearby Good Samaritan was able to safely take the eight passengers to shore. The boat operator was then towed to Jefferson Beach by a Coast Guard vessel.
There was minimal damage to the boat, and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor in the fire. No injuries were reported in the incident.
