
TROY (WWJ) A shooting in Troy left a 9-year-old boy fighting for his life, police said.
Troy Police said officers responded to the home on Crooks Road around 4:12 p.m. on Friday, May 30, after they received a request for an ambulance for an injured child.
Officers arrived and found the little boy bleeding from his head. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors performed emergency surgery.
At last check, he was in critical condition.
Police called the shooting "accidental."
Officers recovered a gun inside the home. Investigators are trying to determine how the child was able to access the weapon and the exact circumstances leading up to the shooting.
His mother was home at the time of the shooting, police said.
Police said the investigation is still active. No further details were released.
