CENTER LINE (WWJ) -- A Macomb County middle school was placed on lockdown Wednesday afternoon as police investigated a threat.
According officials with Center Line Schools, a student at Wolfe Middle School in Center Line allegedly sent a general school threat to a group of students by airdrop.
The threat was taken to the principal who placed the school on a precautionary lockdown, and called the Center Line Police.
Because the threat was airdropped to students' phones, school administration and police were able to quickly locate the student who sent the message, the district said.
Center Line Police took the student out of the school, although it's unclear if he or she may face criminal charges.
The lockdown lasted about an hour.
No details about what the threat entailed have been released.
This was one of two incidents involved airdropped messages that led to lockdowns at Macomb County middle schools on Wednesday. In the other case, what officials described as an "inappropriate meme" was sent to a teacher in Clinton Township.
Center Line is a small city of around 8,200 people surrounded entirely by the city of Warren.
