Update: All victims of Canton Walmart crash have non-life-threatening injuries

CANTON (WWJ) - All of the victims of the crash at the Canton Walmart have non-life-threatening injuries, according to the police.

In an update posted to the Canton Public Safety Department’s Facebook, as of Saturday morning, “all the victims of yesterday’s Walmart incident are either being treated, or have been released, for their non-life-threatening injuries.”

The police said five people were transported to local hospitals. The driver was one of the five.

Three others were treated on the scene by paramedics.

“Police and Fire officials are giving credit to the Walmart staff and patrons who helped the victims immediately following the crash,” the update said. “Their quick actions to provide aid to those injured or frightened are appreciated. Officials also thank Livonia, Plymouth, Wayne and Westland Fire Departments for responding and providing their assistance.”

A woman crashed a Jeep into the Walmart at 39500 Ford Road in Canton at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Friday. Authorities said the vehicle crashed through a set of doors and drove into the pharmacy area of the store. A young child was among those injured.

The investigation into the crash is still ongoing.
