ANN ARBOR (WWJ) -- Another reminder to lock your car.

The Ann Arbor Police department says they are seeing an increase in thefts from unlock vehicles across the city. Officials there say the easiest way to prevent the break ins is locking your car.

Police did not say when or where these break-ins happened, but they offer some suggestions.

Tips to help prevent theft:
• Always take your keys/key fob with you
• Close windows and lock all doors
• Park in well-lit areas
• Never leave valuables in your vehicle (especially in plain sight)
• Never leave your vehicle running unattended
