(WWJ) — Along with high wind gusts, some parts of Southeast Michigan could see a light dusting of snow Monday night, and the National Weather Service says areas to the north of Metro Detroit may get up to three inches on Tuesday.
Low pressure tracking to the north will “bring a period of snowfall” on Tuesday afternoon and evening, with accumulations of 1-3 inches possible across the Saginaw Valley and Thumb regions.
Lesser amounts, however, are expected closer to the city. The snow is expected to fall between noon and 9 p.m. on Jan. 28, according to the NWS.
A post on the NWS X page says there will be “potential for slick spots” during the Tuesday evening commute as snow hits the area.
All of Metro Detroit is under a Wind Advisory until 11 p.m., with gusts of up to 55 mph possible, according to the NWS.
The service said on X scattered snow showers are expected overnight Monday into early Tuesday morning and Oakland County has "about a 40% chance" in their latest forecast, with accumulations under a half inch being most likely.
With temperatures hovering around freezing on Monday, AccuWeather RealFeel temps will dip below 20 degrees as the night goes on. But later in the week, temperatures are expected to climb, with highs of 42 and 40 on Thursday and Friday, respectively.
