EXETER TWP. (WWJ) -- Authorities are on the hunt for a man they consider armed and dangerous, who may be in the Downriver area.
Early Monday morning, deputies with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about shots fired at a home in Exeter Township, northwest of the city of Monroe.
The homeowner, in the 13000 block of Martinsville Road, said he could hear several gunshots hit the front of his house at around 3 a.m.
The homeowner went outside and saw a vehicle speeding away.
No injuries were reported.
Police determined that the shooter and the homeowner knew each other, and that this was not a random shooting.
Investigators have since identified a person of interest in the case: 38-year-old James Pattenaude, whom police say is known to stay at multiple locations throughout the Downriver area as well in Monroe County.
The Sheriff's Office Special Response Team and Drone Team was assisted by the Michigan State Police K9 Team on the case.
"Due to the seriousness of the alleged crime, multiple Sheriff's Office deputies attempted to locate the person of interest at a residence on Milwaukee Road in Milan Township," the sheriff's office said, in a news release "After a lengthy and exhaustive search, law enforcement was unable to locate the man."
On Tuesday, officials released a photo Pattenaude, in hopes that someone in the public may have seen him.
Anyone who has seen this person of interest, or who may have information on his whereabouts, is asked to call the Monroe County Sheriff's Office Detective Bureau at 734-240-7530.
