DETROIT (WWJ) – Two suspects are in custody in connection with a scary scene at a coney island restaurant in Detroit just after the start of the New Year.
Detroit police say they’re working with the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office on possible charges, which may include reckless driving and hit-and-run.
Police on Wednesday released video of the suspects’ SUV squeezing between two parked cars and slamming through the front of Zorba’s Coney Island in the area of McNichols Road and Hoover Street on the city’s east side, just before 1 a.m. on Jan. 1.

While customers were sent scrambling inside the restaurant, police said no serious injuries were reported in the incident.
Police have not released any information about the suspects, but the surveillance video appears to show a man and a woman exit the vehicle. The woman backs the SUV out of the building and drives away, while the man was seen walking away from the scene.
Police did not say whether alcohol appeared to be a factor in the incident.
Previous video showed the wild scene inside the restaurant, showing the vehicle slamming through the exterior. It appeared at least two people were sent flying by the impact.
Detroit police say they’re still investigating the crash and are currently trying to get in contact with anyone who was at the restaurant at the time of the incident.
