(WWJ) Looking for something fun to do in Metro Detroit this Labor Day weekend? You'll have your pick of big and festive outdoor events.

In Royal Oak, one of Metro Detroit’s most popular live music events, Arts, Beats & Eats, is back with more than 200 live performances on nine stages, a highly ranked Juried Fine Arts Show, and over 40 local restaurants with some of the finest cuisine in Metro Detroit. This year’s headliners include Fitz & The Tantrums, 311, Sponge and Flo Rida. Arts, Beats & Eats happens Friday, Sept. 2 - Sunday, Sept. 5 in downtown Royal Oak. MORE.

Meanwhile, in Downtown Detroit you'll find the largest free jazz festival in the world. For over 40 years the Detroit Jazz Festival has celebrated the rich history of jazz music with a spectacular lineup of internationally renowned artists. This year's event will feature 60 performances as remarkable and diverse as the jazz genre itself, with something for all music lovers across five stages. Got kids, or just like cows? The 10th annual Michigan State Fair is happening this weekend at the Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. This year, Detroit Shrine Circus returns with an bigger show and three tents! Fairgoers will also enjoy an expanded midway, agricultural and livestock exhibits, live entertainment, and all those favorite tasty carnival treats! Plus, shop Made-In-Michigan products and locally grown produce at the Farmers Market. The Michigan State Fair happens Thursday, Sept. 1 through Monday, Sept. 5 in Novi. DETAILS.​​​​

Every Labor Day weekend, Northern Macomb County's Romeo hosts many events based around its prized crop, the peach! The annual Romeo Peach Festival will have fun for the whole family, with tasty treats from Westview Cider Mill and other local eateries, plus craft shows, carnival rides, live music, a fireworks show and much more.
