ROSEVILLE (WWJ) -- Autopsy results were released for the Roseville man who was shot and killed by police last week.
The autopsy report -- obtained from the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Officer through a Freedom of Information Act request by the Detroit Free Press -- ruled the death of 57-year-old Frank Robles a homicide.
The report revealed that the Roseville man was shot five times, including one to the head. He also had five cuts on his wrists, but none of those caused any vascular injuries.
The events leading up to the shooting on Tuesday, Apr. 26, started with an early morning car crash when a silver Chevy Silverado, driven by Robles, crossed over the centerline on Groesbeck Highway, between 12 Mile and Martin roads, smashing head-on with a semi-truck, police said.
After Robles crashed into the truck, authorities said he exited his car with a four-inch fishing filet knife and slit his wrists.
Authorities said Robles refused to comply with repeated demands to drop the knife and started walking toward a police officer as they attempted to retreat.
Officers asked him if he was ok, and he told them no.
The officer fired several rounds, which knocked Robles to the ground.
Police said Robles attempted to get back on his feet with the knife still in his hands and the officer fired several more shots, which prevented him from advancing any further.
He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The officers -- one male who fired nine shots, and a female officer who didn't fire any shots -- remain unidentified and on paid administrative leave.
