(WWJ) A police pursuit of an alleged bank robber culminated in a crash Tuesday along U.S. 23 in Ann Arbor.
Pittsfield Township Police said the suspect robbed a Chase Bank branch, and then led officers on a chase that ended in the northbound lanes of the freeway, near Washtenaw Ave.
Police said the suspect was injured in the crash and taken to a local hospital where he was listed in serious, but stable condition.
No one was hurt during the robbery, and no other injuries were reported in the crash.
Police said officers confiscated several weapons that were found in the suspect's car. The money taken from the bank was also recovered.
The suspect's name is being withheld pending expected charges.
There was a traffic backup on the freeway following the police chase crash, leading to another wreck on the freeway. As of 6 p.m., northbound US-23 remained closed at I-94 due to that second crash, but there were no reports that anyone was hurt.
The investigation is ongoing.
