DETROIT (WWJ) - Shell casings litter the ground in West Detroit as police continue to investigate a dispute between two men that erupted into multiple shots fired, WWJ's Charlie Langton reports.
Gunfire rang out around 2 a.m. on Friday down Spokane Street in the area of Livernois and Tireman Ave., Langton said.
As police arrived on scene, the suspect, identified only as a male in his 50s, retreated into the home and barricaded himself inside.
Police made successful contact with the suspect and convinced him to come outside -- he was then taken into custody without further incident.
Langton said the suspect was shot -- although it is not clear from who -- and is listed in temporary serious condition. The status of the other man involved is unknown.
While Detroit police officers are still investigating the scene, it is believed the argument began over excessive noise.
"It looks like this dispute, unbelievably, was over loud music," Langton reported.
The two people involved in the disagreement appeared to be living or staying in the same home.
Langton said it looked like the dispute began outside as over a dozen shell casings could be seen on the ground.
"There's at least 16 shots here, maybe more." Langton said.
Police did say another suspect was taken into custody on an unrelated incident -- the details surrounding that arrest were not released.
Detectives are continuing to investigate the case. No other information was made available at this time.
This is a developing story. Stay tuned to WWJ LIVE for the latest updates.
