CHESTERFIELD TWP (WWJ) -- A Chesterfield Township man stands accused of several felony charges after allegedly destroying property, shooting at officers with an assault-style rifle and barricading himself in his mobile home until a SWAT Team arrived to arrest him.
Bryan Ealba, 47, of Chesterfield Twp, was arraigned Friday and remains housed in the Macomb County Jail on a $3,000 cash bond.
He has been charged with felonious assault with a dangerous weapon, resisting arrest, reckless use of a firearm and disturbing the peace.
Ealba was arrested early Thursday morning at his trailer in the Carriageway Mobile Home Park, located near Gratiot and 24 Mile Rd.
Another resident had called police just after midnight to report property destruction. When officers arrived on the scene, the defendant allegedly stepped out of his trailer and fired a shot in their direction with an AR-15 rifle.
The officers took cover, and Ealba barricaded himself in the trailer.
Macomb County SWAT was called in to negotiate with the defendant.
While the team was able to communicate with Ealba, he refused to give himself up and continued to threaten officers with his rifle, though no other shots appear to have been fired.
When the defendant stepped out of his trailer, yelling insults at the officers, the SWAT team managed to tactically approach him and take him into custody without further incident.
Following the arrest, the Chesterfield Twp Detective Bureau obtained a search warrant to access the Ealba's trailer. Inside, they found the AR-15 rifle, the single shell casing, and a number of other weapons.
Ealba's next court hearing is scheduled for Apr. 3.
