(WWJ) -- Gov. Gretchen Whitmer was among those attending a virtual meeting Wednesday with President Joe Biden to celebrate the U.S. Senate's passage of the bipartisan $1 trillion infrastructure package.
Speaking during the event, Biden took the time to thank Whitmer, but accidentally called her by the wrong name, as he said "thank you, Jennfier, for what you've done and continue to do."
It's possible the president confused Whitmer with former Michigan governor and current energy secretary for the Biden Administration, Jennifer Granholm.
Wednesday's gaffe wasn't the first time Whitmer had been called Jennifer, though. Former Attorney General Bill Schuette, her opponent in the 2018 gubernatorial election, called her that name, to which Whitmer replied "learn my name."
In response to Biden's remarks Wednesday, the governor said "I'm especially proud to have so many partners in Washington who share our mission to 'fix the damn roads.'"
The infrastructure package has now been sent to the U.S. House of Representatives. If it passes, Michigan would receive more than $7 billion from federal highway programs and $563 million for bridge repairs and replacements over the course of five years.
The state would also receive an additional $1 billion over five years to improve public transportation options.
