BLOOMFIELD HILLS (WWJ) -- A middle school student in Oakland County could face criminal charges in connection with a threatening comment, and an alleged kill list discovered by police.
The Bloomfield Township Police Department said the investigation began on Wednesday after a student at East Hills Middle School in Bloomfield Hills overheard the comment, made by a fellow student, and reported it to school officials.
As part of the investigation, police officers visited the young suspect's home, where they said they found a list which included names of current students with the words "safe," "annoying," or "must kill" next to each of them.
No guns were found during a search of the child's home, police said, and officers determined that there was no immediate threat.
The student was immediately removed from the school, and the parents of all students on this list were notified by Bloomfield Township Police School Liaison Officers.
Police said Thursday that the investigation into this incident is ongoing, with all parties, including the student's family, cooperating.
Once the investigation is complete, the case will be presented to the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office for review and possible charges.
Police added in a statement: "The Bloomfield Township Police Department and the Bloomfield Hills School District takes all threats seriously and we will continue to vigorously investigate all reports."
No details about the student, including age or grade, were immediately released.
