(WWJ) -- The Bloomfield Township Police Department asked for the public’s opinion, and the people have spoken.
The department’s new therapy dog has a name:
Maggie.
The department had launched a contest last week to name the two-month old Golden Doodle puppy, which they call their “newest hire.” The other two names in the running were Rosie and Allie.
Officials tweeted a photo of Maggie with her handler, Officer Soley in the Community Relations Division, after officially receiving her new name Monday.
Maggie’s primary functions will include assisting in interviews with children and distressed victims, providing support to the employees of Bloomfield Township after critical incidents, and supporting community engagement.
