FERNDALE (WWJ) -- A popular restaurant in Ferndale is abruptly and permanently closing.

Monday is the last day of business for the Bobcat Bonnie's, along Nine Mile Road and Woodward Ave. The restaurant has been open for seven years, and has been a popular spot for dinner, brunch and happy hour for patrons from all around Metro Detroit.

The owners announced the closure on social media, but didn't give a reason — just writing that the news to share is "bittersweet, "and they're excited for "another amazing operator" to take their place.

The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Monday, June 2, or until they sell out of product.

On Tuesday, they will be selling tables, chairs, art, patio equipment, glassware and more to the public.

The owners wrote on Facebook: "To our friends - THANK YOU for 7 years of what I can only describe as a dream. I am so lucky and so blessed to have been a part of such a great community. After Corktown *wink*- Ferndale is one of the best neighborhoods in the Detroit area. We are so lucky to have been a part of it.

"I want to give a MASSIVE shout out to those who have made this community outstanding- this weekend- is a perfect example of what makes this community so magical. Amazing job again Julia and team. It was awesome last night looking out onto such a vibrant and supportive community." (Read more here).

In a 3 p.m. update, the business said it's completely out of food, but would be serving cheap drinks for the rest of the night, adding: "Come and get a five dollar anything."

The Ferndale closure comes after Bobcat Bonnie's locations in Detroit's Corktown, at Partridge Creek Clinton Township and Wyandotte all closed.

The Lansing location, on Michigan Ave., remains open at this time.
