PORTAGE (WWJ) - Police in West Michigan have learned the identity of a body that was found in a ditch over the weekend -- but questions surrounding the victim's death remain.

The Portage Department of Public Safety said the remains of 47-year-old Daleian Norris of Kalamazoo were discovered by a pedestrian walking in the 4200 block of Long Lake Drive in Portage around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 14.

The department said detectives still consider the death "suspicious" at this point in their investigation.

In a press release on Monday, Oct. 16, authorities said there is no threat to the public.

An official cause of death is pending an autopsy report from the medical examiner.
