Body discovered on shores of Lake Michigan near village of Pentwater, foul play not suspected

PENTWATER (WWJ) A body was discovered on the shores of Lake Michigan.

In a statement on X; Michigan State Police Sixth District said the body was found near the village of Pentwater on the morning of Saturday, November 9th. No information was released about who discovered the remains or the how they did so.

Police said detectives are working to identify the person—who had no ID on them.

Foul play is not suspected at this time, according to police.

Pentwater is a village located about 80 miles northwest of Grand Rapids—with a population of about 900, according to the 2020 census. Its city website describes it as “a quintessential, old-fashioned, laid back community with a rich history on the shores of Lake Michigan’s clear waters and sugar-fine sandy beaches.”
