Body found in lake identified as Pontiac man missing since December

PONTIAC (WWJ) -- The body of a 31-year-old man who hadn't been see by his family since late last year has been pulled from an Oakland County lake.

The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said Ryan Patrick Pitts of Pontiac was positively identified through fingerprints taken by the OCSO crime lab.

The OSCO had offered a $2,500 reward for tips to help located Pitts, who was reported missing by his family in January, although he had not been seen since December of 2021.

Thursday afternoon, the sheriff's office said a 63-year-old Flint man and his adult son, from Pontiac, had been mowing a lawn in the are when they decided to try to find a good place to fish.

They spotted the body in Harris Lake, near North Saginaw and East Montcalm, and notified autorities.

At this time it is still unclear how Pitts died, or if foul play may have been involved.

Results of an autopsy conducted by the Oakland County Medical Examiner on Friday are pending.
