(WWJ) A Boil Water Advisory has been issued again for Walled Lake and Commerce Township, connected to last week's break in a 42-inch transmission line in Novi.
The Great Lakes Water Authority (GLWA) has placed the new pipe, but water service remains impacted for some residents in the surrounding area.

The advisory — put into place after the 14 Mile Rd. water main broke last Thursday, flooding the area — was initially lifted for Commerce and Walled Lake, but according to officials, over-consumption of water during peak hours led to low pressure on the system.
Residents are asked to cut back on water usage — including using sprinklers.

The Boil Water Advisory, meanwhile. continues for Novi. (Scroll down for more details on the Boil Water Advisory).
GLWA said, Sunday night, crews successfully installed the new segment of the 42-inch pipe. On Monday, the Field Services team will be working to weld the new pipe section to the existing 42-inch main. "Teams will remain onsite around the clock until the repair has been completed," GLWA said, in a Monday release.
Keep in mind: To complete the necessary work, a new traffic direction will be set up on 14 Mile Road, west of Novi Road, reducing traffic on the eastbound lanes to a single lane.
Why boil water?
GLWA says boiling the water will kill bacteria and other organisms that may be in the water. Water should be boiled for at least one minute and allowed to cool before consumption. Boiled, bottled or disinfected water should be used for drinking, making ice, washing dishes, brushing teeth, and preparing food until further notice.
All residents connected to the community water supply in the affected area should boil their water. (If you have a private well you do not need to boil your water.)
The water system in this area will be flushed and samples will be collected. The boil water notice will be lifted once the laboratory confirms that the water is safe to drink.
GLWA is asking residents in the affected communities "to conserve water resources throughout this emergency to limit any additional stress on the system."
