(WWJ) A Boil Water Advisory has been issued for most of Novi, Walled Lake and Commerce Township, Oakland county officials announced Tuesday afternoon.
The advisory effects approximately 117,000 people.
Around 2:45 p.m., officials say the Great Lakes Water Authority lost water pressure while working on repairs from an October water main break on 14 Mile Rd. in Farmington Hills.
"Loss of pressure can lead to bacterial contamination in the water system," the Oakland County website said.
County officials said most residences and business fall under the Advisory and should boil all water used for cooking and drinking.
It remains in effect until further notice.
