We are officially celebrating America’s Semiquincentennial— the big 250th anniversary of the nation's founding — nd Metro Detroit is lighting up the night sky to mark the historic milestone.

Whether you're looking for a hometown community tradition or a massive orchestral boom, here's your guide to where the skies will sizzle in Southeast Michigan this weekend.

A FEW NEWSY REMINDERS FROM WWJ:

  • Check the Skies: While these dates are fully locked in for 2026, Michigan weather can be unpredictable. High winds or sudden severe storms can trigger rain dates.
  • Leave the Fuses to the Pros: Local law enforcement reminds everyone that while consumer fireworks are legal to fire off on your own property this holiday weekend, professional shows are safer, bigger, and won't annoy your neighbors' dogs!
