Center Line (WWJ) -- Police were called to a Macomb County high school on Thursday after bullets were found in a bathroom.
In an email sent to parents, Center Line Public Schools Superintendent Joseph Haynes said a student reported finding the bullets in the restroom at Center Line High School, on Arsenal St. in Center Line, Thursday morning.
Administrators immediately called the Center Line Department of Public Safety, which then assisted school officials with the investigation.
Haynes said no gun was found, students were interviewed and parents were contacted about the incident.
Haynes added that police and school administrators "believe the situation has been resolved," The district, however, did not provide details as to whom the bullets belonged, or how they ended up in the school bathroom.
The superintendent urged Center Line parents to talk about this incident with their kids, and to remind them that school threats are no joke.
"Parents, please have discussions with your students about the seriousness of bringing contraband items to school, whether accidental or in jest. Such actions have to be taken seriously and will result in consequences," Haynes added in the note to parents.
This incident comes on the heels of last week's mass shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas — one of the most deadly school shootings in U.S. history.
And while no one was hurt at Center Line High School, not everyone is pleased with the school's response.
Sharing a copy of the letter from Haynes, Center Line parent Amanda Amazeen wrote in a community Facebook group:
"Let's be real... I called Centerline police after my son text me about the bullets being found! Procedure in this school really needs to be planned out better. Why was I, a parent, notified about the situation before some of the staff even knew what was going on! Why was I, a parent, the first one to call police ! While the principal was pulling students into the office to question them about the bullets, a shooter could have been on the other side of the school blowing people away. Precious time was wasted today and we still don't know if it's 100% safe."
No further information was immediately released.
