(WWJ) A group of thieves suspected of breaking into multiple gas stations and other stores got away with a safe containing $80,000 on Friday.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office said the suspects broke a window and busted a door at a Citgo Gas Station on Joslyn Rd. at around 4 a.m., but didn't go inside.
A few minutes later there was a break-in at Lee's Wine and Liquor on Baldwin Road in Orion Township. This time, the suspects took a safe with $80,000 inside, along with a gun.
Deputies spotted the suspects in a white Dodge Charger and gave chase, but ended the pursuit when speeds hit 100 miles per hour.

Investigators said it appears that these are the same suspects who broke into numerous other gas stations and stores across the Metro Detroit area in recent weeks.
The Charger has front-end damage and a broken rear window.
Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to an arrest in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call the tip line at 1-800-SPEAK-UP. (1-800-773-2587). All callers will remain anonymous.
