HAMTRAMCK (WWJ) — A school bus driver is facing charges for allegedly hitting and killing a 3-year-old girl this summer.
Marvin Flentroy of Pontiac was arraigned last week on one count of reckless driving causing death, the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office announced Thursday.
Flentroy, 64, was a school bus driver for Auxilio Services, which transports Hamtramck Public School students, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Around 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 16, Flentroy was driving a bus in the area of Burger and Mackay Streets in Hamtramck — near Caniff and Joseph Campau — when he hit the child while turning onto Burger, according to the prosecutor’s office.
The little girl, who was crossing the street at the time, was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Authorities have not said how fast Flentroy was allegedly driving or what made this a reckless driving case.
Flentroy was given a $10,000 personal bond and ordered not to drive. His next court date is scheduled for Oct. 24.
