Cadillac driver found dead behind the wheel after shooting and crash into fence in Downtown Detroit: police
DETROIT (WWJ) -- A man is dead after a shooting and crash Thursday morning in Downtown Detroit.
Detroit Police said officers were alerted at around 2:45 a.m. to reports of shots fired near the Pavilion Apartments, on Rivard near Layfayette Plaisance St. in Downtown Detroit.
Detectives from the DPD's 7th Precinct responded to find a male driver deceased inside his Cadillac, which had struck the metal fence surrounding the apartment building.
Reporting from the scene, WWJ's Charlie Langton said it's unclear if this was a random shooting, or what the motive might have been.
There have been no arrests in the case, and no suspects have been named or described. "Circumstances regarding this incident are actively being investigated by our Homicide Division," the DPD said, in a media release.
Police did not immediately release the driver's name. No one else was hurt.
