Child asleep in bed is pushed out into the yard when car crashed through her home in Center Line [VIDEO]

CENTER LINE (WWJ) -- A little girl in Macomb County is hospitalized, after a car drove right into her bedroom, early Monday morning.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Charlie Langton reports it was around 2:30 a.m. on Oct. 13 when a woman driving a Chevy Trax crashed through a unit in the Kramer Homes housing co-op, in the area of Van Dyke and 10 Mile Rd. in Center Line.

Witnesses told Langton a young child was asleep in her bed when the force of the crash pushed he out into the yard.

"We looked out and we saw the little girl laying on the grass," said a neighbor, who did not give her name but told Langton she was awakened by a "boom."

"My husband said he saw that the dad or her uncle, whoever it was, pick her up. Because, obviously, she was in the bed, I guess, and he picked her up from that area. And I heard them screaming, saying 'We need help!' and so I called 9-1-1 for them."

The driver ran from the scene, but was quickly tracked down by police and arrested.

The child was rushed from the scene to a local hospital for treatment.

"Amazing that the driver is alive, amazing that the child is alive. I'm glad that the child was sleeping; maybe her body was relaxed, you know?" the neighbor said. "It's amazing that anybody survived that."

The extent of the girl's injuries is not yet known.

Video from the aftermath shows extensive damage to the home, with the vehicle still lodged inside, and a twin-sized mattress among debris on the front lawn.

WWJ has calls out to Center Line Public Safety for more information.
