ALLEGAN COUNTY (WWJ) - Deputies confirm several cattle were killed in a three-vehicle crash near Grand Rapids after a semi truck hauling livestock flipped over late Tuesday evening.

The Allegan County Sheriff’s Office said the wreck occurred just after 10:30 p.m. on Nov. 21 along a stretch of US-131 near 116th Avenue in Martin Township, just south of the Grand Rapids area.

Three vehicles were involved in the crash, including a semi truck that was carrying "several heads" of cattle. The semi overturned as a result of the collision.

The sheriff's office said several cattle were killed, but due to the darkness and the overturned trailer, they were unable to get a full count.

"The scene is still fluid and should know more as time comes," Road Patrol Lt. John Paul Damveld said.

First responders assisted any human occupants out of the vehicles and provided medical attention as needed. Their injuries, if any, are currently unknown.

The identifies of those involved were not released by authorities.

Deputies are still investigating the cause of the crash, although speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors.

No other details were made public.
