LIVONIA (WWJ) -- Charges have now been filed against a Livonia man, in connection with attempted home invasions and attacks on residents that had the community on edge.
Home invasion and assault charges announced against 40-year old Manuel Bardakjian
According to the Wayne County Prosecutor's Office, Bardakjian tried to break in into two homes near Newburgh and 6 Mile Rd. in last month.
On May 13, it's alleged that Bardakjian was was confronted by a 31-year-homeowner on Bristol Drive. The woman told WWJ the suspect grabbed her, pushed her to the ground and ran away.
In that case, he is charged with Attempted Home Invasion - Second Degree, and Assault and Battery.
The next day, it's alleged that Bardakjian returned to the area, pointed a gun at a 77-year old homeowner on Bloomfield Drive. After that man fled to a neighbors house for help, Bardakjian allegedly threatened to shoot both victims before he ran away.
In that case, Bardakjian is charged with Felonious Assault and Felony Firearm.
In both cases, Bardakjian was dressed in a white Hazmat-type suit and a mask.
Something new in the case: There are reports that the suspect actually lives across the street from one of his victims. He's said to be a married father of two children.
Following an investigation by Livonia Police, Bardakjian was arrested on June 6.
He appeared for an arraignment 16th District Court on Tuesday, and received a $250,000 cash/surety bond. A Probable Cause Conference was scheduled for June 18, before Judge James Jolly.
Speaking to WW'J's Darrylin Horne and other reporters, the father of the woman allegedly attacked by Bardakjian said the family is shaken by what happened.
"I'd never think that this would happen in our neighborhood," Bill Williams said. "But, you know, everybody's in shock, and the neighborhood's still terrified."
