DETROIT (WWJ) Charges have been brought against a Westland man in a wrong-way drunk driving crash that killed a City of Detroit 911 dispatcher nearly two years ago.

Dale Lamon Good, 42, was charged with second-degree murder, reckless driving causing death, and Operating While Intoxicated causing death.

Vanessa Simmons, 46, died in December 2019, when her BMW was struck head-on by Good in his Silverado along the Lodge near I-75 (12/15/19), according to police. He later told officers he had been drinking. His BAC (Blood Alcohol Content) registered .222, nearly triple the legal limit of .08; according to State Police Records.

Good was given a $50-thousand bond/10%.

According to WDIV, Simmons was on her way to work. The collision left her with a shattered leg, arm, contusion on her heart and skull, and a severed spine. She died less than 72 hours later.

She had two children.

High-profile attorney Jeffrey Fieger took on her case at the request of her family in January of 2021 to help bring charges against the man responsible.

In a guest note beneath her obituary, coworker Larry J., wrote of her: “Vanessa was joyful and kind. I remember when I needed medical care how she drove me for hours to find a medical center. God will welcome her, and we’ll miss her.”
