DEARBORN (WWJ) -- Two teenagers are facing weapon charges in connection with a shooting last Friday inside the Fairlane Town Center mall in Dearborn.
The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said 19-year-olds Cania Cain, of Detroit, and Martinez Long, of Oak Park, were both arraigned on Tuesday on a charge of Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
According to prosecutors, the two people who were killed -- Cameron Watkins and Keonte Seaborn -- initiated the fight on July 3, outside a Foot Locker store.
Witnesses said they heard an argument and then gunfire, at around 1 p.m.
Watkins allegedly shot and killed Seaborn with a gun he pulled from Cain's purse before firing wildly into the mall.
There was a struggle, and a bystander was also shot and wounded.
That's when Long shot and killed Watkins, a move prosecutors determined was justified in defense of himself and others.
Dearborn Police Chief Issa Shahin said, in a statement: “Senseless gun violence continues to plague communities across the country. We are saddened by this entirely preventable tragedy but have to reiterate: We will expend all resources to keep our city safe and hold individuals responsible for dangerous behavior.”
