WIXOM (WWJ) -- A brawl at a youth baseball game in Oakland County has led to a criminal investigation, according to police.

The incident happened Saturday, June 17, during a travel baseball tournament for 15 and 16-year-olds at Total Sport Complex on Wixom Rd. in Wixom.

Video posted to social media shows the fight breaking out on the diamond between two teams — including coaches and players — at the conclusion of a game.

WWJ Newsradio 950's Jon Hewett spoke with Wixom Police Lt. Mark Bradley who said there is an ongoing criminal investigation.

"Apparently during the game there was some trash talk going back and forth," Bradley said. "Then at the time of the handshake line at the end of the game, somebody was assaulted; they don't know exactly who."

Bradley said that charges against one or more people are possible in connection with the fight.

"Our detective bureau is looking into it, and one of the individuals that's involved, at least one, is a minor, so that adds a little bit of a trick to it as far as charges," he said.

"But we'll present it to the (Oakland County) Prosecutor's Office if we feel that the case warrants it," Bradey added. "...But the parents and the fans and everybody gets into the game a little bit too much from time to time, and unfortunately let their emotions take charges, and you go from there."

Bradley said no one involved in the incident was seriously injured, at least not to the point of needing emergency medical care.
