DETROIT (WWJ) -- Chevrolet is featuring empty nesters in what’s become an annual tradition of sentimental holiday ads.
For five years, Chevy has run holiday season ads that feature families, traditions, and classic vehicles. The ads generally run sixty seconds, with longer versions posted online. The carmaker has come to call these their “Holiday Card to America.”

This year’s story features an empty-nest couple heading to a holiday dinner in their 1987 Suburban. Along the way, there are flashbacks of family holidays in the past.
“As a father of three adult boys, the holidays give us the opportunity to reconnect, and cherish the traditions that bring us together,” said Steve Majoros, Chief Marketing Officer, Chevrolet. “This year, our focus was to invite people to remember life’s most special moments with family, with its ups and downs, and to find joy in the journey.”
The ad will make its debut during the Fox TV broadcast of the Lions-Packers Thanksgiving day game. It will run through the holiday season.
Chevrolet is also promoting electric vehicles this season, with a caravan of Chevy Silverado EV’s from San Diego to Detroit, with five “Holiday Cheer” stops along the way, working with Toys for Tots. The stops will also include the 1957 Suburban featured in the ad.
