(WWJ) A Chicago man was killed and a child was injured when the four-wheeler they were riding rolled over in Michigan's Upper Peninsula over the holiday weekend.

At around 8:15 p.m. Saturday, Michigan State Police responded to the scene of the crash in Schoolcraft County's Thompson Township, in the western U.P.

On the Hemlock Trail, troopers found that an ATV had overturned when the driver lost control, and both the driver and the passenger were ejected.

MSP said the vehicle rolled over the driver, a 33-year-old man whose name has not been released. Life-saving measures were attempted at the scene and he was taken to Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His name was not released.

The passenger, an 11-year-old girl, suffered only minor injuries, MSP said.

Neither was wearing a helmet, according to police.

Troopers were assisted by Manistique Public Safety and Sault Tribal Police Department.

The crash remains under investigation.
