CLAWSON (WWJ) -- The Clawson Police Department is looking for a suspicious man who followed and spoke to a child outside a local school.

According to investigators, an 11-year-old boy was walking through the parking lot of Schalm Elementary School, on N Selfridge Blvd., at around 1 p.m. Saturday when a stranger approached him in a SUV.

The driver followed the boy, while telling him not to be scared.

The child then ran to another adult in the area who intervened, police said, and the suspect drove away.

On Sunday, parents of students in Clawson Public Schools were notified about this incident along with another at a park that turned out to be a false alarm.

According to police, two kids were playing at the park when a stranger slowly approached them. The children got scared, police said, and jumped a fence to avoid the man.

Police said they looked into the Baker incident and found that the man the kids saw was a parent who was looking for something he lost in the park.

That incident was not related to the incident at Schalm, police said.

As the investigation into the Schalm incident continues, police said they are still looking for the man who was driving what may have been a Chevy Equinox
