CLINTON TWP. (WWJ) -- Police are investigating the murder of a woman, found stabbed to death in Clinton Township
Wednesday morning, Clinton Township police were searching for a suspect in the death of 36-year-old Shamekia Kelly
Kelly was found fatally stabbed in her home in the Lakeside Village apartments on Tuesday, after police were called by loved ones to do a welfare check.
Police believe Kelly was dead for days before the was found dead.
The apartment complex released a statement quoting police as saying that this was an isolated incident, and likely "domestic related."
While police have not named any suspects, WWJ's Charlie Langton reports the victim's family want the cops to talk to Kelly's ex-boyfriend. The family said Kelly and the man had an on-again, off -gain relationship, and that he'd recently been released from prison.
It's unclear if police are looking for that man at this time, but there have been on arrests reports in the case.
Family members said Kelly loved to care for people, and was studying to become a nurse.
