ROMEO (WWJ) -- Family and friends are mourning the loss of a beloved hockey and softball coach in Macomb County.
Keith Knight died on Sunday of complications from COVID-19, which he reportedly contracted several months ago while traveling to California to visit a new grandchild. Knight was 57.
Along with his dedicated work at Romeo High School, Knight was also an assistant softball coach at Ford High School, and was loved and respected by all of his players.
“He worked midnights and he would come in in the morning and he would rake the field and get it ready for us and I didn’t know that until just now,” Ford softball player Danielle Sugars told ClickOnDetroit.com.
Another former player tweeted that Knight was a good man who cared about the guys he coached. The tweet ends with #RIPKnighter.
A funeral and visitation are planned for Saturday afternoon at A.H. Peters Funeral Home in Warren.
