Cops arrest teen, recover stolen handguns during traffic stop in Lansing

DELTA TWP (WWJ) -- Two suspects will face felony weapons charges after Michigan State Police recovered a pair of stolen handguns during a traffic stop early Friday morning.

Shortly after 12 a.m. on December 30, state troopers pulled over a car on Waverly Rd at Jolly Rd on the border of Lansing and Delta Township.

During the traffic stop, officers discovered two handguns along with ammunition and arrested both of the vehicle's occupants.

The 16-year-old driver was turned over to family but is expected to face several felony weapons charges, including carrying a concealed weapon and being in possession of a stolen firearm.

A 24-year-old passenger is being held in the Eaton County Jail. Due to an unknown criminal history, this suspect faces an additional charge of being a felon in possession of a firearm.
