(WWJ) Hank Winchester, a longtime reporter for WDIV Local 4, has been placed on administrative leave in the midst of an investigation.
Officials with the Detroit TV station confirmed that Winchester is on leave, but have not released any information about the investigation.
Police reportedly searched his home in Oakland County's Beverly Hills last week and seized digital evidence.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office has confirmed that it provided assistance in executing the search warrant June 13. The OCSO, however, is not releasing any further details, referring all questions to the and Beverly Hills Police Department which has not commented.
Attorney Todd Flodd, who represents Winchester, told local media outlets that his client is not doing any interviews.
Flood released the following statement regarding the allegations:
"Hank has spent decades bringing truth to our community and fighting for our citizens. Because he holds a high-profile position in our community, that can at times generate false accusations. This investigation will end where it began — nowhere."
Winchester is an Emmy award-winning consumer investigative reporter and head of WDIV’s “Help Me Hank” consumer unit. He's been with Local 4 since 2001.
