Explosives charges have been filed against a St. Clair Shores husband and wife who allegedly threw an explosive device, with the words "BYE BYE" into their neighbor's yard.
The incident took place Monday, August 3rd, at a home on Maxine Street near Greater Mack.
Megan Showers is accused of lighting the explosive device which was allegedly thrown by Justin Showers in their 72-year-old neighbor’s yard, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's office.
The explosive was extinguished by the neighbor and there were no injuries reported.
Authorities executed a search warrant at the Showers’ home and found guns, ammunition, and materials for assembling explosive devices, according to the Prosecutor's office.
Jason Showers, 45, was arraigned Wednesday in 40th District Court on charges of Explosives – Placing Near Property, Explosives – Possession of Bombs with Unlawful Intent, Weapons – Firearms – Possession by a Prohibited Person, Weapons – Ammunition – Possession by a Prohibited Person, Weapons – Felony Firearm, and Habitual Offender, Fourth Offense Notice, according to the Macomb County Prosecutor's office. If convicted, Showers could be sent to prison for life.
His wife, Megan, 38, was arraigned on two charges, Explosives – Placing Near Property and Explosives – Possession of Bombs with Unlawful Intent. She faces up to 15 years in prison, if convicted.
“The allegations in this case are serious and especially troubling because they involve a senior member of our community," Macomb County Prosecutor Pete Lucido said in a statement.
Jason Showers’ bond was set at $100,000 cash only. If he is released, Showers cannot return to his home due to the proximity of the victim.
Megan Showers’ bond is set at $20,000, with a 10 percent option. If released, she cannot talk with her husband or the victim.
Both are scheduled back in court on August 14th.
