WAYNE COUNTY (WWJ) - Two stray dogs are reportedly still on the loose after they allegedly attacked a husband, wife and their Labrador Retriever as they finished up a walk in Grosse Pointe Park on Friday morning.

Terry O'Conner told WDIV that he and his wife were strolling along Beaconsfield Ave. in Grosse Pointe Park with their dog, Burley, around 5:45 a.m. when they were suddenly approached by two Pitbull-type dogs.

O'Conner said the strays went for Burley first, but turned on him when he tried to intervene.

"They attacked [my dog] in the front and the back," he told WDIV. "Then I went to go break it up, they took me down."

O'Conner said he "went pretty wild on them" and began punching the animals in their ears to get them to stop.

The attack finally ended and O'Conner, his wife and his Labrador retriever escaped the ordeal -- they are expected to be OK.

O'Conner said he sustained cuts to his hand while fighting off the dogs, while his wife was bitten and Burley needed "a lot of stitches."

He places blame for the incident on irresponsible dog owners.

WDIV reported that the two stray dogs are believed to still be running around.
