(WWJ) – A crash along I-696 is causing major traffic headaches for Metro Detroit Drivers during the Wednesday evening commute.
The crash happened around 6:20 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of I-696 between Dequindre and Mound, leaving only the left lane open in the area, according to MDOT.
Traffic along I-696 was backed up nearly seven miles all the way to Woodward Avenue.
WWJ traffic tipsters were also reporting slow going on the ramps of the I-696 / I-75 interchange.
Authorities did not immediately release any details about the crash, including what caused it or whether anyone was injured.
WWJ Traffic Reporter says drivers headed east on I-696 can exit at Woodward Avenue and take it north to 11 Mile Road and rejoin the freeway at Mound.
