(WWJ) Two alleged auto thieves are behind bars after crashing a stolen Corvette during a police chase.

Michigan State Police say the 2021 model was stolen from a dealership lot in Novi just after 10 a.m. Thursday. On-Star helped police track the car to Detroit's east side where it was spotted near Gratiot Ave. and Outer Drive.

When troopers tried to make a traffic stop, the driver took off, with police in pursuit.

The chase ended when the fleeing vehicle turned southbound on the I-75 Service Drive from Warren and side-swiped a van traveling south.

Police said the Corvette then "bounced off" the van and crashed into multiple parked vehicles.

The two suspects ran away, but were captured and arrested by MSP troopers with the help of Detroit police officers.

They remained lodged at the Detroit Detention Center with charges pending. Their names have not been released, as MSP says the investigation is ongoing.

There were no injuries reported.
