DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- Charges have been filed in the case of a missing teenage girl who was found in the home of a Dearborn Heights man.
Kamal Abou Darwiche, 62, of Dearborn Heights, is being held on a $500,000 bond.
Wayne County Prosecutor's Office said Darwiche is accused of taking in and sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl who ran away from Vista Maria youth home on March 14.
The girl was the subject of a two-month-long search that involved local police and federal authorities, including the US Marshals Service.
Prosecutors say Darwiche harbored the missing teen for more than a month, and allegedly raped her during that time period.
Tips eventually led detectives Darwiche's home, in the area of Inkster and Warren roads, where Keaton was recovered on April 23.
Police said Darwiche had been questioned about the teen earlier on in the investigation and told officers he hadn't seen her.
Darwiche is charged by the WCPO with Child Sexually Abusive Activity, Delivery of Marijuana to a Minor, and Harboring a Runaway.
The defendant was arraigned on Friday in 20th District Court, and was ordered held on a $500,000 cash bond. He will next be back in court for a Probable Cause Conference on June 25.
The teen is now in the care of Child Protective Services.
