DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) -- A Dearborn Heights man has died after crashing his motorcycle into a building in Dearborn Monday night.

Witnesses told Dearborn Police that the man "had accelerated at a high rate of speed" and appeared to lose control of his motorcycle while trying to park near a business along Carlysle Street, near Bennett.

The 56-year-old crashed head-on into the building, just after 8:30 p.m., and was critically injured.

Police said Good Samaritan was applying pressure to the rider’s injuries when officers arrived. Officers rendered emergency first aid on the scene before Dearborn Fire and EMS transported the man to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

An investigation found that no other vehicles were involved in the crash and no one else was hurt.

Police said the man was not wearing a helmet. His name hasn't been released.

The investigation by the Dearborn PD is ongoing.
