DETROIT (WWJ) – A Dearborn man is dead after losing control of his car on I-94 Tuesday night in Detroit, according to Michigan State Police.
Troopers were called to the scene along westbound I-94 near the Addison Avenue/Ford Road exit shortly before 8:30 p.m. after getting reports of a single-vehicle crash.
MSP officials say the preliminary investigation shows the 47-year-old man lost control of his car and he was ejected as it rolled.
Medics attempted life saving measures at the scene, but he died at the hospital, MSP officials said.
Excessive speed appears to be a factor in the crash.
Photos from the scene posted to the MSP Second District Twitter page show the white sedan lying on its roof with debris scattered all over the freeway and the embankment, just before the exit ramp.
The crash is still under investigation.
The freeway remained closed, as of 10:15 p.m.
MSP First Lt. Mike Shaw said “another family is mourning the death of a family member due to a preventable crash.”
“I can’t stress enough the importance of wearing a seatbelt and making good decisions while driving,” Shaw said, per a post on the MSP Twitter page.
